Rugby’s Sea Cadets helped with the clear up after the Rotary Spring Fair and the representatives of the organising committee from the 3 Rotary Clubs in Rugby visited the cadets at Seabrooke House to show their appreciation and donate some of the proceeds from the Fair to the group.

Joh Thomas, Communications, Communities and Partnerships Manager from Urban & Civic plc, the developers of Houlton and main sponsors of the Fair, joined the presentation party and said “It was great to learn how the Rotary Spring Fair benefits the community not only with a fun event on the day but with the support it brings to groups such as the Rugby Sea Cadets. Many thanks to Chief Petty Officer (SCC) Alf Snowdon, for showing us round Seabrooke House and explaining some of the many activities that take place there and which help develop the cadets as members of the community.”

Willy Goldschmidt, Marketing lead for the Rotary Spring Fair, said “Sponsorship from Houlton was key to securing the essential infrastructure and some of the attractions provided at the Fair and we look forward to working with Joh and her colleagues for the Fair in 2019 which we will start planning in September!”

Sub Lieutenant (SCC) Gareth Head RNR, Commanding Officer of Rugby Sea Cadets said, “Our cadets and staff always enjoy attending this event and it is one of the highlights of our year.  Testament to this is the 27 cadets, which all volunteered to take part. Over the years the support we have received from the Rotary Clubs has been key to our unit acquiring some of the boats we use on Draycote Water and the donation we have received this year will be used to assist us with the purchase of IT equipment which will be used to assist our Adult Volunteers and Cadets deliver instruction to our cadets.
